What were the trends of digital transformation 2018? Can we still see these trends as of this year?
Let’s know more about that in this article.
Digital Transformation 2018
2018 was a year of the mainstream. Some of the digital transformation techs we see today rose and were made more common 2 years ago.
This only goes to show how fast-moving our technology is. With new techs popping up here and there to make the customer experience better.
And we could not help but thank 2018 for some of the changes that we can feel now. What were those, then?
IoT Everywhere
In 2018, the Internet of Things or IoT started to become common and more seen everywhere. With the core being analytics, 5G, and edge computing.
And because of that, we can see smarter versions of IoT techs today. Especially for analytics.
Advanced Analytics
As mentioned above, IoT helped in the advancement of analytics. Showing how powerful IoT is.
And in 2018, it supported a higher level of analytics. One that changed sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and smart cities.
Early Deployment of 5G
Two years ago, we saw more telecommunications companies invest more in 5G. And it’s early deployments was a success.
But 2018 did not see 5G become mainstream. It’s still even making its way this year to be one.
But, thanks to the initiatives two years ago, we can see 5G even closer right now.
Blockchain Finding Its Way
Blockchain managed to find its way outside the financial sector in 2018. As major cloud providers started to offer blockchain as a service.
This is so that they can give better security measures. And blockchain has started its way on banking and HR in that year. But, it still hasn’t started on smaller companies.
AI Became Mainstream
2018 saw the mainstreaming of Artificial Intelligence. With virtual assistants like Alexa and Siri becoming more common in the year.
Also, more companies adopted AI to help better their employees’ and customers’ lives. Adding it in their computer systems, platforms, and software.
Also, chatbots to answer and aid customers became more common.
AR Rose, VR Stagnated
Augmented Reality has many ways to improve. And in 2018, more companies saw that AR is cheaper and easier to use. That’s AR started to rise that year.
While Virtual Reality took a backseat and lagged. But companies were still finding ways to make it better.
Company Culture Was Still the Biggest Hurdle
Nothing’s changed. In 2018, company culture was also one of the biggest hurdles in digital transformation. The same as today.
Companies found it hard to take big steps on their journey. Because few people are on board the steps needed to take.
Digital Transformation was the Way
And this is true until this year. Digital transformation was, and still, is the way to drive the business forward.
More and more companies found that to be true two years ago. And more are realizing that to date. Those who started early on have better chances than those only realizing now.
So, what are the trends two years ago that are still around? Or became better today?
